Fantasy Football Showcase: Steve Slaton, Justin Forsett, Steven Jackson all Questionable and Other News from Around the NFL Week 13
Last night’s match-up in Toronto has Jets fans hoping for a playoff run. Since that’s not going to happen, let’s discuss some of the other news and notes from around the NFL for Week 13.
The details are a bit sketchy but apparently Texans’ head coach Gary Kubiak was concerned enough to speak out after today’s practice. The numbness is related to a neck injury Slaton suffered over the last couple of weeks. Chris Brown will start with Ryan Moats backing up.
Falcons’ blunder costs them Michael Turner for at least another week; Snelling and Norwood to split carries
With one of the most foolish medical decisions in recent memory, the Falcons have cost themselves the service of Michael Turner for at least another week. Turner aggravated his high ankle sprain last week, which will cost him and his owners the start against the Eagles this weekend, and possibly another one next week against the Saints.
DeSean Jackson officially out this week; Jason Avant will benefit from the injury
With concussions “in vogue” this week, look for the Eagles medical staff to be ultra conservative with Jackson, especially considering the relapse by fellow Eagle Brian Westbrook earlier in the season.
Cardinals’ starter “up in the air”; Leinart and Warner split reps on Friday
NBC is not the only one hoping the elder gunslinger Warner will oppose the “even elder” Brett Favre in the NFC showdown during prime-time. Unless Warner demonstrates signs of post concussion syndrome I would bet on a start on Sunday night.
Steven Jackson’s Back still an Issue; Game-time decision
Jackson did not practice at all this week, but I would look for another game-day start after last week’s similar condition yielded owners with over 100-yards and a TD.
Clinton Portis to see a concussion specialist; season over for the Skins RB1?
We speculated a few weeks back that Portis might miss the remainder of the season with concussion related symptoms, but after last week’s medical clearance it appeared that he may rejoin the team. Well…it appears that Portis will see another specialist to discuss the injury. For Portis owners (like me), this is a bitter pill to swallow.
Justin Forsett Hurt in Practice (Quad); Julius Jones to return to action
Forsett owners will have a tough decision to make this week and for the foreseeable future. Forsett will likely see some reps this week against the 49ers, but will see his role reduced with Jones returning to action.
We’ll keep you posted on game-day via Twitter. Enjoy the Florida/Alabama game and watch for snow in the northeast on Saturday.
